Tools I've built for measuring fat stores in C. elegans from Oil Red O images.

ORO Analysis Toolsuite

Oil Red O staining colors fat red, but turning images of stained worms into reliable numbers is harder than it looks. My toolsuite converts image intensity to optical density using the Beer–Lambert relationship. In my testing, optical density gave more reliable fat measurements than raw pixel intensity.

• CellProfiler ORO Extractor pulls per-worm fat and body-size measurements from CellProfiler output.
• Prism Formatter arranges results into tables ready for GraphPad Prism.
• ANOVA and pairwise comparison tools run statistics across strains and conditions.
• Every tool writes Excel workbooks and runs with a double-click on Windows.
